Story Sharing time

In Room 4, the Pukeko group is learning how to improve their public speaking skills and serve as role models for the rest of the class. The students took turns reading their stories aloud on stage, focusing on using expression and proper manners when sharing their work. They also learned how to use the microphone effectively, adjusting their volume and distance from the mic to ensure their voices were heard clearly. The students were proud to share their stories with their classmates and felt more confident in their ability to speak in front of an audience.

The Fascinating World of Plant Transpiration and Water Transportation

In Room 4, the students have been captivated by the amazing world of plant transpiration and water transportation. Under the guidance of Mr. Lee, the students have been exploring the different ways plants absorb and transport water.

During a recent experiment, Mr. Lee placed a plastic bag on a plant and left it overnight. The next day, the bag was full of water droplets which the students learned was due to the process of transpiration, where plants release water vapor through their leaves. The students were amazed to learn that plants can sweat and breathe just like humans do!

To further their understanding, Mr. Lee conducted another experiment where he placed cabbage leaves in different coloured liquids. The next day, the cabbage leaves had changed colours, and the students learned that this was due to the process of water transportation, where the plant's root system absorbs water and nutrients from the soil and transports them up to the leaves.

The students were excited to learn about the different types of transportation systems in plants and how they work together to keep the plant healthy. Through the engaging teaching methods and hands-on experiments, it sparked a love for science in the students, and they are eager to learn more about the fascinating world of plants.
